(1) The Washington college grant program is created to provide a statewide free college program for eligible participants and greater access to postsecondary education for Washington residents. The Washington college grant program is intended to increase the number of high school graduates and adults that can attain a postsecondary credential and provide them with the qualifications needed to compete for job opportunities in Washington.
The student achievement council shall collaborate with the state board for community and technical colleges to propose a maximum Washington college grant award amount for students attending postsecondary nondegree credential programs approved under this act. The student achievement council shall report its proposal to the appropriate committees of the legislature in accordance with RCW 43.01.036 by December 1, 2026.
This section expires January 31, 2027.
